They Reduce Stress ─ Crosswords are a fun, engaging way to take your mind off everyday worries for a while. They provide excellent “alone time” where you can safely decompress and unwind. In fact, research has shown that intellectually demanding activities like crossword puzzles or chess may be more effective for reducing anxiety than supposedly relaxing activities like watching TV or shopping.
Once you finish with all the easy clues, start on the longer words. Use a dictionary or thesaurus if you encounter a word with which you are unfamiliar. You could also refer to a Bible or an encyclopedia, if the clue will refers to a Biblical quote, or to a specific location or an event in history. Work through these clues in the same way you did with the easy clues, block by block.
